The International Olympiad in Informatics 2016 World Final held will be held in Kazan, Russia, from August 12 to 19, 2016.
Started in 2002, the Indian Computing Olympiad is an annual programming competition held to select the four students to represent India at the International Olympiad in Informatics.
The contest is organized by Indian Association for Research in Computing Science, the competition is organized in three different stages:
- Zonal Informatics Olympiad or Zonal Computing Olympiad
- Indian National Olympiad in Informatics
- IOI Training Camp
The Indian Computing Olympiad comprises of two rounds:
- Zonal Informatics Olympiad or Zonal Computing Olympiad would serve as the first round. This year they will be held in parallel, at the same centres, so students can only take part in one of the two exams to qualify for INOI-2016. The choice is to be made at the time of registration.
- ZIO-2016 will be administered as a computerized test, in cooperation with TCS iON. The nature of the question paper will be the same as in previous years. Previous year question paper can be found here. You will have to work out the solutions using pen and paper followed by submit your final answers. However, instead of a printed question paper and answer sheet, you will read the question paper on the screen and type in your answers on the computer.
- ZCO-2016 is a programming exam, the only programming languages permitted in ZCO-2016 are C and C++. The local computer will have Dev-Cpp installed for writing code. Code will be submitted for evaluation to a local server, with feedback on correct/wrong answers. The exam format will be similar to previous years and previous year question paper can be found here. A demo page will be available before the exam to familiarize students with the interface.
- The second round is the Indian National Olympiad in Informatics, which is a 3 hour long online programming competition. Students can solve problems in C and C++. The questions of INOI are similar to the ones asked in International Olympiad in Informatics.
- Top 25 students from these contests are selected for the International Olympiad in Informatics Training Camp, where they are trained to represent India at International Olympiad of Informatics.
- All these contests are individual events.
